Sun Co. to Cut 800 Jobs in Major Restructuring: The nation’s largest independent oil refiner and marketer launched an extensive financial and operational restructuring aimed at boosting its financial performance. The Philadelphia-based company, which had $7.7 billion in revenue last year, said it will also split itself into eight separate business units, plus a holding company and a service company. The job cuts represent 11% of Sun’s work force and 35% of its support staff. It said the move will reduce the company’s costs by $110 million annually. Sun’s shares fell $2.375 to $28.875 on the New York Stock Exchange.
