ALL-AREA VOLLEYBALL TEAM / TOP BOYS’ PLAYER : Ryan Millar

SCHOOL: Highland

YEAR: Senior

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Pizza maker or volleyball breaker, Ryan Millar does it all. If he’s not tossing pizza dough at his workplace, the 6-foot-8 Millar is slamming down kill after kill and completely rewriting the Highland High record book. One statistic that won’t make the book: Millar once hit a ball hard enough to puncture its air bladder. Not surprisingly, Millar broke his school record with 398 kills this season and was named to the All-Southern Section Division II team. Millar moves on to play for BYU next season and will be missed by one person in particular. “He basically carried our team this year,†said Highland Coach Mike Bird, whose team lost in the Division II quarterfinals. “He was our go-to guy and he came through all the time.â€
