The Wet Seal Inc.: The Irvine women’s apparel retailer said it lost $671,000, or 5 cents a share, for the first fiscal quarter ended April 29, compared with a loss of $662,000, or 5 cents a share, for the comparable period last year. Sales were down 1% to $29.8 million from $30.2 million.
Wet Seal opened one new store in Florida and remodeled one store in California during the first quarter of fiscal 1995. It also said it expects to take over the operations of the Contempo Casuals chain on July 1.
