Toney Headlines Irvine Fight Card
IRVINE — Rodney Toney, one of the better fighters to appear at the monthly boxing program at the Irvine Marriott, is featured in the main event tonight.
A middleweight from San Diego, Toney is 19-1-2 with 11 knockouts.
Toney takes on Augustine Renteria of Tucson in the 10-round main event. Renteria is 9-12.
Toney last fought at the Marriott in August last year and dropped Basante Blanco of Venezuela in the second round.
The undercard features two local fighters--bantamweight Johnny Vasquez of Huntington Beach and featherweight Mike Semaza of Orange.
Vasquez (4-3, three knockouts) takes on Boni Lara (7-6, four knockouts) in a six-round bout. Semaza (12-0-1, five knockouts) fights Idelfonso Bernal of San Diego in a six-round bout. Bernal is 29-22 with 19 knockouts.
