ANGELES FOREST : Some Campgrounds to Be Closed for Holiday Weekend
Several of the Angeles National Forest’s 45 campgrounds will be closed over Memorial Day weekend because of federal budget cuts, poor road conditions and other factors, forest officials have announced.
The officials anticipate that among the open campgrounds, most will be full by Friday afternoon. Reservations are accepted only at group campgrounds. Most public campgrounds do not charge an entrance fee, but privately operated campgrounds charge $10 to $12 per site.
These campgrounds will be closed: Basin, Cabin Flat, Mountain Oak and Jackson Flat in the Valyermo district; Cienega, South Portal, Spunky and Upper Shake in the Saugus district; Crystal Lake, Lupine and Deer Flats in the Mt. Baldy district, and Soledad in the Tujunga district.
Also, three picnic areas are closed: Glacier in the Mt. Baldy district, Grassy Hollow in the Valyermo district and Los Cantilles in the Saugus district.
