YORBA LINDA : Blaze Destroys Four-Unit Condominium Complex
An electrical fire in a laundry room spread to four adjoining condominium units in a Yorba Linda complex Tuesday, leaving the two-story structure a complete loss, fire officials said.
Orange County and Anaheim firefighters responded to the fire at Echo Hills Condominiums, in the 20300 block of Fallen Oak Lane, at 7:26 a.m.
By then the fire had spread to the common attic area of the units, leading to extensive damage totaling $435,000, Orange County Fire Capt. Dan Young said. It took 12 to 15 firetrucks about an hour to control the blaze.
No one was injured, but two pet rabbits were killed and a dog apparently ran away, Young said. A 7-year-old girl who lived in one of the units was planning to celebrate her birthday Tuesday, so firefighters have taken up a collection to give the girl a party Friday.
