TUNIS, Tunisia — Algerian security forces have killed 30 armed Muslim militants in a four-day search operation in eight regions across the country, the Algerian official news agency APS said Monday.
Seven among 30 men killed between Thursday and Sunday were shot inside an old shed in the eastern city of Constantine, the report said.
More than 40,000 people have been killed in Algerian violence since January, 1992, when the authorities canceled a general election that the country’s Islamic fundamentalists were poised to win.
