Since 1989, the Tree Society of Orange County has planted hundreds of trees in an effort to add shade to urban areas.
ReLeaf Anaheim, ReLeaf Costa Mesa, Fullerton Beautiful and Orange for Trees are the groups that plant trees in those cities. The Shade Tree Partnership has members who plant in three cities: Irvine, Newport Beach and Tustin.
The society’s Commemorative Tree Program allows a tree to be planted as a memorial or for a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary or graduation. For $75, a 6- to 8-foot tree will be planted and a certificate issued.
