A 17-year-old San Gabriel boy was arrested Monday on suspicion of beating a woman to death after detectives found a match for a shoe print they discovered at the crime scene, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The boy was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of Rebecca Wojatacki, 45, whose body was found April 24 on South Walnut Street in San Gabriel, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Hellmold.
“The suspect was linked to the murder through evidence recovered at the crime scene, [including] a shoe print,” Hellmold said.
The teen-ager’s name was withheld because of his age.
The cause of Wojatacki’s death was listed as “blunt force trauma,” said sheriff’s Lt. Ray Peavy. Authorities did not disclose a motive.
