In an effort to provide a summer youth program at four of its parks, the Santa Paula Department of Recreation is seeking $4,000 in donations to operate the program five days a week for seven weeks.
The Summer Playground Program, open to children from first to sixth grade, will offer arts and crafts, games, sports and special events from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The program will be offered at Teague, Las Piedras, Obregon and Mill parks, from June 26 to Aug. 10 and will be free of charge to youngsters.
The city will provide half of the $8,000 required to run the program, said Mel Howery, the city’s recreation director.
To make a donation or for more information, call Howery at 933-4216.
