Oxnard Dishes Up Strawberries
Junior Walker and the All Stars, the Robert Cray Band and Asleep at the Wheel are just a few of the acts in the juicy lineup at the annual California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard.
Entertainment Saturday includes Susie Hansen’s Latin Jazz Band. On Sunday, Native Vibe will add Caribbean flavor and the Buds will get the place rockin’ with former members of Chicago, the Doobie Brothers and the Spencer Davis Group.
Celebrity host Adam Wylie (“Picket Fences” and “Beauty and the Beast”) will likely be found in Strawberryland, the family entertainment area that includes children’s concerts and crafts, train rides and a petting zoo. For adult-size appetites, there are, of course, plenty of strawberry dishes from jams to shortcakes to dipped berries.
Strawberry Meadows, College Park, 3250 S. Rose Ave., Oxnard. $6 (includes entertainment); children 2-12 and seniors, $4. Free parking. (805) 444-5544.
