PREP ROUNDUP : Woodbridge Boys Win Both Titles in Sea View Tennis Tournament

Woodbridge, seeded fourth in the upcoming Southern Section Division I tennis playoffs, showed its dominance Wednesday, winning the Sea View League tennis finals with victories in both singles and doubles play.
Jonny Biorkman, seeded No. 1 for Woodbridge, defeated teammate Adam Artunian, 6-3, 6-4, in the final.
In a semifinal match, Biorkman beat El Toro’s Alex Brown, 6-4, 6-3.
Ricky Kaplan and Reza Furokhpay of Woodbridge upset top-seeded Raj Shukla and Mike Feyka of Corona del Mar, 6-4, 6-1, for the doubles title.
Kaplan and Furokhpay defeated Greg Coleman and Josh Weinstein of Corona del Mar, 6-0, 6-3, to advance to the final round.
In Empire League tennis finals:
Wing, Woo upset winners--Sixth-seeded Tim Wing and Bryen Woo of Cypress upset top-seeded Mike Kim and Mike Lee of Loara, 6-1, 6-2 to win the doubles title.
Loara’s James Pai won the singles title with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over teammate Bryan Hollenbeck.
In Olympic League tennis finals:
Davis and Cortez win--Brethren Christian’s Josh Davis and Tony Cortez defeated Greg Copeland and Steve Meyer of Valley Christian, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, to win the Olympic League doubles title. Henrik Baars of Pasadena Marshall won the singles’ title.
In Southern Section Division II badminton:
Magnolia 11, South El Monte 8--Joyce Cabuhat and Boris Chung were undefeated in singles’ matches and in mixed doubles for Magnolia in a wild-card match. Cabuhat won 11-8, 11-5 and 10-14, 11-4, 12-10.
Magnolia plays fourth-seeded Covina Gladstone Tuesday.
