GARDEN GROVE : Service Will Honor City’s Fallen Officers

A public memorial service for the city’s five police officers killed in the line of duty will be conducted from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
Leading the service will be Police Chief Stanley L. Knee, who will recognize family members of the slain officers. The eighth annual event will be held in conjunction with national Police Memorial Week.
The officers and the dates they died:
* Sgt. Myron L. Trapp, Oct. 6, 1959.
* Reserve Officer Andy R. Reese, May 30, 1970.
* Officer Donald Reed, June 7, 1980.
* Officer Michael L. Rainford, Nov. 7, 1980.
* Master Officer Howard E. Dallies Jr., March 9, 1993.
The service will be held in the memorial park dedicated to the slain officers, on the east side of the Garden Grove Police Department facility at 11301 Acacia Parkway. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in Garden Grove High School’s Don Wash Auditorium, 11271 Stanford Ave.
