2 Motorcyclists Are Killed in Head-On Collision

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — Two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision Sunday morning as they tried to pass a truck on the Angeles Crest Highway, California Highway Patrol officers said.
One cyclist, a 25-year-old Temple City man, was southbound on the highway near mile 47 when he crossed the center line about 11:45 a.m. in front of a U.S. Forest Service truck heading north, officers said.
To avoid an accident, the truck swerved onto the shoulder, officers said. At the same time, another cyclist, a 33-year-old North Hollywood man who had been trailing the truck, pulled out to pass it, officers said.
The southbound cyclist, who was trying to pull back across the center line, and the northbound cyclist, who was trying to pass the truck, smashed into each other, officers said. Both were killed instantly, officers said.
Their names were not released pending notification of relatives.
