COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Lose Third Straight When Nevada Pulls Away

The top-ranked Cal State Fullerton baseball team lost its third consecutive game, dropping a Big West Conference game to Nevada, 10-8, Friday in Reno.
Fullerton trailed, 7-0, after three innings, but rallied with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth to get even.
The Wolfpack (32-12, 11-5) scored a run in the bottom of the sixth and two in the eighth on a home run by Shane Slayton.
Mark Kotsay was two for three, including his 14th home run, for the Titans (39-9, 13-3).
In nonconference baseball:
Chapman 7, Azusa Pacific 6--Miguel Galaz’s bases-loaded single with no outs in the bottom of the ninth won it for Chapman (16-20), which rallied from a 6-0 deficit. Jason Smith was five for five with three runs batted in and three runs scored. He tied the score with a home run in his final collegiate at-bat.
Azusa Pacific (32-10-1) is 16th in the nation in the NAIA rankings.
In the Big West men’s tennis championships:
UC Irvine 4, Utah State 0--Top-seeded UC Irvine won its first round match over eighth-seeded Utah State. Chris Tontz didn’t lose a game in his victory over David Perry in No. 1 singles. Fred Bach defeated Dan Morgan, 6-0, 6-2, and Julian Foxon defeated Kurt Snedeker, 6-1, 6-1.
In other first-round matches, No. 2 UNLV defeated No. 7 San Jose State, 4-0 and No. 3 UC Santa Barbara beat No. 6 Nevada, 4-0. No. 5 Pacific beat No. 4 New Mexico State, 4-0.
The Anteaters will face Pacific in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. today. UNLV will play UC Santa Barbara.
