LOS ANGELES — The Clippers, who played six regular-season games at The Pond of Anaheim this season, hope to play eight next season along with exhibition games against the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers said Friday they have submitted an application to the NBA Board of Governors making such a request. Official NBA Board of Governors approval is expected by April 26, the team said.
If all goes as planned, the Clippers will play 33 regular-season games at the Los Angeles Sports Arena next season.
In their six regular-season games at The Pond this season, the Clippers’ average attendance was 17,783, compared with 8,583 at the Sports Arena. They also drew 18,052 for a exhibition game at The Pond against the Lakers.
