* Robert Waynesmith, Retired Commercial Artist
Robert Waynesmith, a longtime Ojai resident and retired commercial artist, died Wednesday in a Santa Paula convalescent home. He was 89.
Waynesmith was born in Highmore, S.D., and attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and the Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Institute in Chicago.
He also studied acting at the Goodman Theater in Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post in Ojai. He was also a member of the Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife Leota Waynesmith of Ojai; and a son, Gary L. Waynesmith of Santa Monica.
No services are scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home, Ojai.
