Philip Morris Faces Protest: The nation’s biggest public pension fund said it will vote against the board nominees of the New York-based food and tobacco conglomerate later this month. The California Public Employees Retirement System said it is unhappy that it has been unable to get a private meeting with directors who are not directly employed by Philip Morris Inc. to discuss strategic issues facing the company.
