Four on Small Plane Killed When Craft Crashes Into Back Yard
POLLOCK PINES — Four people were killed Saturday when their private plane crashed into the back yard of an occupied home about 120 miles northeast of San Francisco.
No one on the ground was hurt. The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. in Pollock Pines, a community in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains. The plane had taken off from the Bakersfield Airport and was headed for Lake Tahoe.
Lesper Robson said he heard a loud engine noise and saw parts and luggage falling from the plane.
“I just watched it for as long as I dared and then ran over to the fire station,†said Robson, who watched from a store parking lot.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating.
The identities of the victims were not released.
