Man Arrested in Wife’s Death
A 27-year-old Winnetka man who told police he accidentally shot his common-law wife in the head is expected to be arraigned on a murder charge Monday, Los Angeles police said.
Vincent John Cueto was arrested Thursday afternoon after he told his neighbors that he had just shot his wife, LAPD Detective Rick Swanston said.
When officers arrived at Cueto’s apartment in the 7300 block of Corbin Avenue, they found Karin Margareta Bryttegard, 28, dead in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head.
“He made a number of statements regarding how his wife was shot in the head and we found them to be inconsistent with each other as well as physical evidence at the scene,†Swanston said. A semiautomatic pistol was recovered in the apartment.
Neighbors also told police that the couple had been fighting and relatives indicated that Cueto had made threats that he was going to kill his wife, Swanston said.
The couple’s 4-year-old daughter was not at home at the time of the shooting.
