Few Vacancies Left at Free Camping Sites

Campers have already booked up most of the free sites in state park campgrounds for the coming week, park officials said Friday.
It happens every year, state park ranger Simon Cavazos said.
“You know the forecasts are for sunny weather and we have spring break and Easter, this is just a really busy time,” he said.
Cavazos said families in RVs and towing trailers started arriving as early as Friday at Leo Carrillo State Park, Point Mugu State Park, McGrath State Beach, and Emma Wood State Beach.
A few vacancies remained and some cancellations are expected, but Cavazos said he would not recommend showing up in hopes of finding a free space.
“We try to discourage people from showing up without a reservation,” he said.
