UCLA’s victory over Arkansas Monday drew a Los Angeles rating of 25.4 with a 42% share of the audience. The rating peaked at 32.9 at the end of the game, when the share reached 47. That means 47% of the homes where television was being watched were tuned into the Bruins.
The national rating was a 19.3 with a 30 share, which converts to an audience of about 50.8 million, fourth-largest ever for a basketball game. The most-watched NCAA final was in 1993, when North Carolina beat Michigan. That game attracted 51.6 million viewers.
