NBA ROUNDUP : Miller’s Jumper Gives Pacers Winning Look

From Associated Press

No words for Spike Lee this time. Only a look.

Reggie Miller shot a jumper from 20 feet out, watched it swish in, then turned and shot Lee, only feet away in his courtside seat, a triumphant glare as he headed back down the court.

The basket broke a 90-90 tie with 28.7 seconds left Tuesday night, and the Indiana Pacers went on to score a 94-90 victory over the New York Knicks, Indiana’s first victory in nine regular-season games at Madison Square Garden. It was the Pacers’ 47th victory of the season, tying a club record.

That’s not counting Game 5 of last year’s Eastern Conference finals when Miller scored 39 points to beat the Knicks and waged a trash-talking duel with Lee, the most vocal of the celebrities who sit courtside at the Garden.

Miller always gets pumped for playing in front of them. “This is Broadway, man,” he said. “All those stars in the front row.”

Miller just smiled when asked about his pointed look at Lee. The filmmaker was wearing the No. 3 jersey of John Starks, the player responsible for guarding Miller, who finished with 27 points.

Patrick Ewing led New York with 28 points.
