FOOTHILL RANCH : Supervisor to Speak at School Dedication
- Share via
Saddleback Valley Unified School District officials on Wednesday will dedicate the new Foothill Ranch Elementary School.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Gaddi H. Vasquez is the scheduled speaker for the 10 a.m. ceremony, which comes two hours before a special meeting of the school district board to consider the Orange County investment pool settlement agreement.
The public is invited to both events at the campus.
The dedication holds special significance because the school project almost wasn’t completed on time because of bankruptcy-related funding problems.
In mid-December, school district officials told parents that Foothill Ranch Elementary would not open as planned because of money woes caused by the county bankruptcy.
But three days later, the same officials changed their minds, saying that the contractor had agreed to continue work even though he was owed more than $100,000. Officials later announced they had found money to proceed.
