FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Police Find Marijuana in Car; Man Arrested

After a brief pursuit, police arrested a Mexican national Sunday night for having nearly 300 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle, authorities said. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $500,000, police said.
Jorge Lopez Martinez, 30, sped from police after being stopped at 7:22 p.m. at Harbor Boulevard and Edinger Avenue, Fountain Valley police said. Martinez reportedly abandoned his car about one-quarter mile away and led police on a foot chase.
The chase finally that ended in an industrial yard in the 16700 block of Harbor Boulevard when police dogs sniffed out Martinez hiding underneath a building’s crawl space, police said.
Police said Martinez’s car contained 127 bricks of marijuana. He was being held at Huntington Beach Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and transportation.
