Columbus Middle School hosted a daylong fair Sunday that brought together students from all the public schools in the area for music and dance performances and displays of student work.
More than 1,500 people attended the event, which celebrated student achievement.
“Every school had five or six performances,” said Columbus Principal Gail Hughes.
The festival was staged for students from kindergarten to the 12th grade in Canoga Park High School’s enrollment complex. Schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are divided into complexes. Each represents one high school and all the middle and elementary schools that feed into it.
In addition to the student displays and shows, the fair also featured demonstrations by the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department’s DARE program.
