Last year’s award winners were the city of Huntington Beach, Avco Financial Services and Allergan Inc.
Among the factors the Red Cross will take into consideration when evaluating applicants are:
* Scope of the nominee’s written disaster plan.
* Personnel training in disaster procedures.
* Safety precautions undertaken to reduce hazards.
* Amount of emergency supplies on hand.
* Cooperation with adjacent communities in disaster planning.
The awards will be presented May 10 at the 11th annual Orange County Disaster Preparedness Academy at the Anaheim Hilton and Towers.
Information on applying for the award is available from the Red Cross at (714) 835-5381, Ext. 105.
