Santa Barbara Bank and Trust has entered the Ventura County market in hopes of filling a community banking void left after the sale in January of the century-old Bank of A. Levy.
The newcomer opened a branch office in Camarillo and plans to open two more branches in Oxnard and Ventura on Monday. An official of the Santa Barbara bank said the Ventura County offices will provide about 50 new jobs in the county, many of them filled by former employees of A. Levy, which was bought by First Interstate Bank. Santa Barbara Bank and Trust has 15 offices in Santa Barbara County and reported assets of $1.1 billion.
