County Housing Sales Drop From Year Ago

Ventura County’s housing sales did poorly in February compared to a year ago. TRW REDI Property Data reported that 486 new and existing Ventura County homes closed escrow in February--down 10% from the 538 sold in the same month last year. The average purchase price last month was $222,000, down from $234,000 in February, 1994.
Meanwhile, the Construction Industry Board in Burbank shows that 121 residential building permits were issued throughout Ventura County in February, slightly down from 130 permits issued last February. The 1995 permits were issued for buildings valued at $21.2 million, up from $17.9 million a year earlier.
