BOSTON — Police acting on a telephone tip raided the bedroom of a Melrose, Mass., teen-ager and found the stolen green-and-white banner bearing the retired number of Reggie Lewis.
The boy was not at home, but his father let in the police.
The tip came over a hot line set up by Garden officials, who had posted a $5,000 reward. The 16-year-old, whose name police would not release because of his age, was charged by Melrose police with receiving stolen property worth more than $250.
