Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Palmdale Woman Dies in Crash

PALMDALE — A Palmdale woman died Tuesday morning after her car veered into a ditch and flipped over, authorities said.
Carolyn Gieser, 42, suffered severe head injuries in the crash, which occurred about 6 a.m. on Sierra Highway, just south of Angeles Forest Highway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Rob Lund.
The cause of Gieser’s accident remained a mystery Tuesday afternoon. Authorities did not know how fast Gieser’s 1988 Ford Thunderbird was traveling before she lost control or what caused her to drive into the ditch. There were no witnesses to her death, Lund said.
The Los Angeles County coroner will attempt to determine how Gieser died, said spokesman Scott Carrier.
