COMPTON : Suspect Arrested in Slaying of Cheerleader

A Compton man was arrested Tuesday in the execution-style slaying of a Dorsey High School cheerleader, Los Angeles police said.
Deon Lemore Holt, 27, was booked on suspicion of murder in the Oct. 29 shooting death of Anitra Jolie Watson, 17, said Lt. Sergio Robleto of the South Bureau Homicide Division.
Although detectives do not think Holt was the triggerman, he could face murder charges for taking part in what was apparently a botched robbery in the abandoned home at Haas Avenue and Century Boulevard, Robleto said. Holt allegedly went to the home to buy drugs but decided to steal them instead.
Detectives allege that Carlton Maurice Gladden, a 27-year-old Compton gang member, fired the shots that killed Watson.
Gladden remains at large. Detectives are unsure what Watson was doing at the home.
