A 19-year-old Oxnard man was in stable condition Monday after being shot while cruising near Saviers Boulevard, authorities said.
Oxnard police are searching for the gunman in the attack on Hector Camacho, who was riding in a car with three friends about 10 p.m. Sunday when they noticed that they were being followed and turned onto a side street.
A shot was fired near Yucca and C streets and Camacho was hit in the neck. Camacho’s friends drove him to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
They told police that the car following them--which they described as a large, dark-colored American model carrying several passengers--took off.
Street Crime Unit Officer Gary Chennault said Camacho is not a known gang member and no weapons were found in his car.
Chennault said police are still interviewing witnesses.
