Paten Joins Superior Fireplace

Claude Paten has been appointed vice president of marketing for Superior Fireplace Co., a Fullerton manufacturer of wood- and gas-burning fireplaces. Paten was formerly executive vice president for Peachtree Doors and Windows, where he was in charge of sales, marketing and research and development.

* Masaaki Ito has been appointed executive vice president of Yamaha Corp. of America in Buena Park, an umbrella company that oversees much of Yamaha’s business in the United States. He had been president of Yamaha Electronics Corp. USA, for more than three years. Succeeding him in that position is Kenji Iida, who was previously general manager for the company’s domestic audio-video sales in Japan.

* Donald W. Schartung has joined NexGen SI, an Irvine software consulting and development company, as vice president of consulting services. He was previously a senior executive with Computer Sciences Corp. in El Segundo.

* Michael C. Carter has been appointed vice president and chief operating officer of Anaheim Memorial Hospital, a 224-bed facility. He was previously vice president of professional and support services at Redlands Community Hospital.
