Pakistan Seizes 2 Allegedly Tied to Accused Bomber

KARACHI, Pakistan — Two more men believed to be linked to Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, who is accused of masterminding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing in New York, have been arrested, police said Sunday.
Arif Tajik and Hafiz Dur Mohammed belong to Sipah-e-Sahaba, a hard-line Sunni Muslim group. Mohammed also is an imam, or prayer leader, at a Karachi mosque, according to police.
Police said they linked the two to Yousef after interrogating another suspect.
Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has ordered a crackdown on suspected terrorists, and police in the past month have arrested more than 10 men on suspicion of ties to Yousef.
However, none has been accused of a serious crime, and skeptics say the arrests were carried out to give the appearance that the government is making headway against terrorism and violence.
Yousef was arrested Feb. 7 in Islamabad. He has been extradited to the United States, where he faces trial for the trade center attack that left six dead and more than 1,000 injured.
