VENTURA : Woman Denies She Starved Her Baby

An Ojai Valley woman accused of starving her infant daughter to death pleaded not guilty in Ventura County Municipal Court on Tuesday to charges of murder and child abuse.
Two-month-old Rachael Catherine Rother died Feb. 22, although coroner’s officials have not yet ruled on a cause of the baby’s death.
Municipal Court Judge Vincent O’Neill Jr. set an April 19 preliminary hearing for the infant’s mother, 31-year-old Pamela Rother.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael K. Frawley said authorities are still conducting interviews with people who might have information on the baby’s death.
Rother is being held in Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail.
