Nucor Cuts Steel Prices: Less than a week after major steelmakers raised prices, an aggressive small mill cut prices on one of its products, raising questions as to whether the increases set by its larger competitors will stick. The announcement by Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. of a $20-a-ton reduction in prices for some sheet-steel products drove its stock price and the shares of other steelmakers sharply lower. Steel stocks had rallied last week after USX-U.S. Steel Group and other companies said they were raising prices about $30 a ton, or 3.5%.
