Noah Margolis
Senior, Tustin High School
Margolis shared his physics research project at the Southern California Conference on Undergraduate Research at Caltech.
His project involves studies on an electron duplicator being used at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. He is conducting the research under M.A. Khakoo, a physics professor at Cal State Fullerton.
Margolis is taking advanced placement classes at UC Irvine. He has a 4.7 grade-point average and is applying to Princeton, MIT, Stanford and Rice. He plans to major in physics.

Maureen Allen
Elementary school science specialist, Irvine
Allen was named Science Educator of the Year by the Orange County Science Education Assn.
She was presented the award for the 1994-95 school year at the annual conference of the Orange County Science Education Assn. at Chapman University.
Allen, a former teacher of the year in the Irvine Unified School District, was commended for her years of service to science educators throughout Orange County. She has motivated students and colleagues through her work at the UC Irvine Summer Science Institute, the California Science Project and other organizations.

David Holland
Executive director, Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce
The Southern California Assn. of Chambers of Commerce chose Holland for a scholarship that helps executive directors improve their management skills.
He will attend the annual California Chamber of Commerce Executives conference scheduled this year at the San Francisco Airport Marriott. The executive directors will exchange tips on effectively managing their jobs.

John McGovern
Senior vice president of Toyota Motor Sales, Mission Viejo
McGovern has been appointed to the Los Angeles Educational Partnership board of directors.
A Mission Viejo resident, McGovern will help the education reform organization strengthen its science program.
McGovern and his wife, Linda, have lived in Orange County for 15 years. At Toyota, he oversees a range of services from finance to human resources.
He also serves as president of the Golden West College foundation in Huntington Beach and is on the advisory committee for Cal State Dominguez Hills.
