GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Taft Saves Best Shot for Last, 47-45

Marisol Lopez made a layup in the final seconds, lifting Taft to a 47-45 victory over El Camino Real in a Northwest Valley Conference finale Friday at Taft.
Tami Dunn scored 18 points and added 16 rebounds for the Toreadors (17-2, 9-1). Taft ended the game with a 7-0 run.
Chatsworth 68, Birmingham 45--Jodi Borenstein had 17 points and seven assists for the Chancellors (17-6, 8-2) in a Northwest Valley game at Birmingham.
Alexandra Gravani had 27 points for Birmingham (8-10, 5-5).
Kennedy 49, Granada Hills 41--Tami Ross scored 20 points and added 17 rebounds for the Cougars (17-7, 8-2) in a Northwest Valley game at Kennedy.
San Fernando 50, Cleveland 30--Martha Guillory scored 16 points and had 15 rebounds for the Tigers (4-14, 2-8) in a Northwest Valley game at San Fernando.
Ixchel Blanca scored 10 points for the Cavaliers (3-15, 1-9).
Poly 65, Canoga Park 27--Dora Lopez scored 20 points for the Parrots (13-9, 6-4) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference finale at Poly.
The Parrots clinched a first-place tie with Grant in the East Valley League.
Van Nuys 61, Sylmar 58--Tami Matsuguma scored eight of her 12 points in the final quarter as the Wolves (6-13, 3-7) rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to upset second-place Sylmar (17-3, 7-3) in a Valley Pac-8 game at Van Nuys.
Grant 70, Reseda 31--Bahaneh Maani scored 19 points for the Lancers (12-10, 6-4) in a Valley Pac-8 game at Grant.
Oakwood 42, Providence 33--Stephanie Glucksman had 12 points and Tami Spokane added 10 for the Gorillas (13-4, 12-0) in a Liberty League finale. Sophomore Carrie Vandenburg had 11 points for Providence (11-7, 7-5).
Village Christian 62, L.A. Baptist 11--Lindy James had 22 points and six assists for the Crusaders (19-4, 8-0), who completed their third consecutive unbeaten Alpha League season.
Calabasas 39, Santa Clara 37--Jamie Apody scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half for the Coyotes (14-6, 7-3) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.
Nordhoff 60, Malibu 25--Freshman Erin Barker had 18 points and Rayven McCloskey added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Frontier League champion Nordhoff (15-8, 8-2) at Nordhoff.
