Northrop Grumman Confirms Missile Layoffs: The defense contractor, as expected, issued 60-day layoff notices to about 1,100 workers in Hawthorne that were building the company’s tri-service standoff attack missile, or TASSAM. Northrop Grumman said approximately 400 other employees working in support areas in Hawthorne also will be affected, and that it will “make every effort” to find jobs in other parts of its operations for the laid-off employees.
