In an effort to reduce gang activity and nighttime loitering by youths, Oxnard police staged a curfew crackdown this weekend, arresting seven people on the operation’s first night.
Teams of officers from the department’s street crimes, detective and patrol divisions crisscrossed the city Friday and Saturday nights searching for youngsters out after the 10 p.m. curfew.
Of the seven people arrested Friday, one was suspected of drunk driving, another was in possession of a handgun and a third was wanted on a felony warrant. The rest were cited for curfew violation and released to their parents. Their names and ages were not available.
