REGION : Volunteers Sought as Big Brothers
- Share via
The Los Angeles-based Catholic Big Brothers is seeking volunteers to serve as role models for children.
About 30 children are on a waiting list to be paired with men. Children and volunteers do not have to be Catholic to participate in the program.
“We have children in the Southeast area who wait for volunteers for two to three years,” said program director Edgar Villamarin. “A child in Santa Monica has a better chance of being matched than a child of South Gate because there are more volunteers in that area.”
Interested men must show proof of economic stability and be prepared to commit three to four hours per week for a minimum of one year.
