Teed Off at Idea for Chatsworth Reservoir
I was shocked and amazed at Paul Mathews’ article saying that Chatsworth Reservoir should be turned into a golf course (Valley Commentary, Jan. 8).
I went to the reservoir on a school field trip, and I was amazed at the natural beauty of the place. It is not the “wasteland†Mathews makes it out to be. Native plants give the animals shelter. This “wasteland†is home to a family of kildeer, a kind of bird that we saw on our trip. A mother was guarding the camouflaged eggs that blended into the ground. If people were allowed to go in freely, the eggs would be smashed in no time.
A golf course is the worst possible thing to put in any natural area.
