PREP NOTES : Edison Surfing Coach Rothrock Is Dead at 51
John Rothrock, surfing coach at Edison High, died Friday morning. He was 51.
Rothrock was co-founder of the National Scholastic Surfing Assn. According to John Walters, a close friend of the family, Rothrock suffered a seizure early Friday.
Rothrock is survived by his wife, Jane, and one daughter.

Former Woodbridge High baseball Coach Vince Brown has been named an assistant coach at Foothill High.
Brown, 34, spent the last two seasons at Woodbridge, where he compiled a 35-20 record. He guided the Warriors to the Sea View League title in 1993. Last season, Woodbridge finished 11-16.
Before Woodbridge, Brown coached seven seasons at Tustin, guiding the Tillers to four consecutive Sea View titles and to the Southern Section Division III final in 1991. He is 173-67 in nine seasons as a head coach.
Brown will serve under Foothill Coach Gerry Sedoo.
