PREP ROUNDUP : Pacifica Knocks Off No. 6 Santiago
Trevor Stivers scored twice in the final five minutes to lead Pacifica in its 4-2 upset of No. 6 Santiago in Garden Grove League boys’ soccer Friday at Pacifica High.
Albert Mendez had both goals for Santiago. With the victory, Pacifica (11-3-1, 7-0-1) took sole possession of first place in the Garden Grove league.
Santiago dropped to 14-3, 5-2.

Garden Grove 3, La Quinta 0--Alphonso Juarez scored twice and Hugo Monteon stopped seven shots as Garden Grove shut out La Quinta. Rick Matlock had 12 saves for La Quinta.
Los Amigos 4, Rancho Alamitos 0--Emir Rangel scored two goals in the Lobos’ first league victory. Johannes Oestlund and Mitch Muncey each added a goal for Los Amigos (2-14, 1-7).
In the Century League:
Canyon 0, Villa Park 0--Sean Bartko had seven saves to give him 13 shutouts in 17 games for Villa Park (9-6-5, 3-2-1).
El Modena 0, Santa Ana Valley 0--Jesus Pena had seven saves for Santa Ana Valley (0-4-2 in league) and Mike Orban had six saves for the 10th-ranked Vanguards (10-2-2, 4-0-1).
El Modena takes over sole possession of first place in league with nine points.
Foothill 2, Orange 1--Mike Baas and Chris Fanti scored Foothill’s goals. Eduardo Rodriguez scored for Orange (10-7-2, 4-2). Foothill improved to 6-5-4, 2-2-1.
In the Empire League:
Cypress 6, Kennedy 0--Mike Gaitley and Chuck Calderella had two goals each for visiting Cypress (13-3-3, 3-1-1).
El Dorado 4, Century 0--Jason Bernard scored two goals and Brad Myrand and James Ramos added one goal each for host El Dorado (11-3-2, 4-0-1).
Katella 1, Loara 1--Darren Zinser scored with 20 minutes remaining for visiting Katella (5-7-6, 2-0-3). Martin Lopez scored the tying goal 10 minutes later for Loara (5-7-2, 2-1-2).
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 4, Fullerton 2 (2 OT)--Wes Hale of Sonora tied the score, 2-2, with five minutes left in regulation.
Nate Garilsh scored the winning goal for Sonora (9-7-2, 4-1-1) and teammate Nathan Ballard made his second goal in the second overtime.
Sunny Hills 1, La Habra 0--Mike Funk scored with five minutes left to give fifth-ranked Sunny Hills the victory. Goalkeeper Jeff Murphy had five saves in recording his seventh shutout for the Lancers (14-3-1, 5-0-1).
In the Golden West League:
Santa Ana 6, Westminster 0--Santa Ana scored five goals in the second half. Juan Bolanos scored two and Everardo Leon, Marco Garcia and Fernando Cortez each added one.
Jaime Santana scored the only goal in the first half for the Saints (7-5-2, 3-1-1).
Servite 1, Ocean View 0--Servite freshman Tony Dinunzio’s first-half goal was the difference as Jack Lambert posted five saves in shutting out Ocean View.
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 2, Brethren Christian 0--Matt Stiles scored a two first-half breakaways for host Orange Lutheran (12-3-4, 1-2-2).
In the Orange League:
Valencia 3, Western 0--Juan Carlos Reyes scored twice and Juan Carlos Cedillo added another as Valencia (7-5-4, 3-0-3) shut out Western.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 2, Mission Viejo 0--Brad Chapin and Steve Braud scored first-half goals for visiting Capistrano Valley (11-3-5, 3-0-3).
In the Sunset League:
Edison 2, Esperanza 1--Ryan Fial scored a goal with two minutes left to keep fourth-ranked Edison (5-1 in league) in first place. Dan Soleymani scored in the first half on a penalty kick for the visiting Chargers.
Aaron Colacion scored a goal for host Esperanza (4-2-1 in league), ranked ninth.
Fountain Valley 1, Huntington Beach 0 (OT)--With four minutes remaining in overtime, Joey Vasquez took a pass from Nick Tolman and scored left-footed past two Huntington Beach defenders and the goalkeeper to lift No. 2 Fountain Valley (15-3, 5-1).
Los Alamitos 1, Marina 0 OT--Marco Materazzi scored in overtime to give Los Alamitos (11-5-4, 3-3-1) the victory.
In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:
La Quinta 2, Garden Grove 1--Stephanie Grace scored two second-half goals to lead La Quinta (3-1-2 in league).
Pacifica 8, Santiago 0--Amanda Freed scored three goals, Teri Emmons scored two goals and Alanna Brown, Sarah Brown and Cindy Stevens each scored once for Pacifica (9-3, 9-0), which clinched the league championship.
In Sunset League field hockey:
Santiago 2, Fountain Valley 0--Camilia Rodriguez and Ivonne Monroy scored second-half goals for Santiago (19-4-3, 9-0-1).
