GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Kennedy Misses Chance and Taft Escapes, 55-54
Nyoki McKeith scored 12 of her 23 points in the final quarter and Taft High survived a Kennedy rally for a 55-54 Northwest Valley Conference victory on Friday.
Kennedy, which made five three-point baskets in the final quarter, had a chance to tie it with seven seconds left but Tamaya Morris missed one of two free throws.
Vanessa Dunn added 16 points for Taft (13-2, 5-1), which beat Kennedy for the first time in school history.
Sabrina Beldner came off the bench for Kennedy to make six three-pointers and score 20 points. Tami Ross added 16 points and 19 rebounds, while Morris had 12 points.

Chatsworth 73, San Fernando 26--Nancy Vincent had 16 points for the Chancellors (13-6, 4-2) in a Northwest Valley game.
Chatsworth led, 32-2, at the half.
Birmingham 45, Cleveland 32--Alexandra Gravani had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Braves (6-8, 3-3) in a Northwest Valley game.
North Hollywood 56, Sylmar 34--The Huskies (15-2, 6-0) used a full-court press to make 18 steals and hold Sylmar to nine first-half points in their 23rd consecutive Valley Pac-8 Conference victory.
Anna Celaya had 23 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds for North Hollywood, which extended its winning streak to 12 games. Samantha Fargeon added 12 points and 15 rebounds.
The Huskies limited Sylmar’s Nadra Manley to eight points.
Monroe 75, Van Nuys 61-- Lynne Berry had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolves (5-10, 0-2) in a Valley Pac--8 setback.
Lindsay Sotero-Higa scored 15 points for the Vikings (11-4, 1-1), which never had defeated Van Nuys. Anna Marquez and Shirley Sotero-Higa each added 14 points.
El Camino Real 51, Granada Hills 40--Tami Jones scored 18 points for the Conquistadores (9-6, 5-1) in a Northwest Valley game.
Crescenta Valley 69, Pasadena 41--Michelle Greco had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Amirah Leonard added 19 points for the Falcons in a Pacific League game.
Crescenta Valley (19-5, 6-1) broke a school record with 1,498 points, eclipsing the mark of 1,489 set last season.
Calabasas 59, Moorpark 46--Melissa Krolik had 24 points and 13 rebounds, and Jamie Apody added 23 points for the Coyotes (11-5, 4-2) in a Frontier League game.
Notre Dame 56, Louisville 40--Maggie Dixon had 18 points for the Knights (14-5, 5-1) in a Mission League game.
Fillmore 72, Bishop Diego 31--Julie Arundell and Danielle Stines each scored 16 points for the host Flashes (15-2, 4-1) in a Tri-Valley League game.
Nordhoff 67, Santa Clara 51--Sarah Barker had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the host Rangers (13-6, 6-0) in a Frontier League game.
