World IN BRIEF : NORTHERN IRELAND : IRA Bomber Gets 9 Life Sentences

A 21-year-old IRA operative was ordered to serve nine life sentences, one for each victim killed by a bomb he and an accomplice carried into a fish shop in a Protestant Belfast neighborhood. Sean Kelly, who lost his left eye in the blast, refused to recognize the court and put forward no defense during his trial two weeks ago. His accomplice was killed in the blast.
