Associated Press
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — The owner of a dog who dug up her newborn puppies after they were buried alive was arrested on animal cruelty charges.
Robert Humrighous, 41, was charged Thursday with three counts of aggravated animal abuse and six counts of animal abandonment.
Humrighous placed the pups in a paper bag shortly after their Jan. 16 birth and buried them alive within their mother’s sight, police said. Their mother broke free from her chain and rescued her puppies. A neighbor alerted police after hearing the dog’s continuous barking.
