CAMARILLO : Council Revises Watering Hours
- Share via
The Camarillo City Council has approved amending regulations to standardize when residents can water their lawns.
Voting unanimously this week, the council changed the prohibition on watering from the current 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during standard time and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during daylight-saving time to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round.
John Elwell, the city’s director of community services, said the amendment--which will come before the council for a second reading and final adoption Feb. 8--was in response to requests by several residents who asked that the regulations be made easier to follow.
The watering restrictions were first put into effect in April, 1990, in response to severe drought conditions. City officials since then have maintained the restrictions to conserve water.
