LOS ANGELES COUNTY : County Welfare Rolls Decline by 0.6% in Month

There were 10,404 fewer people receiving welfare in Los Angeles County in November, a 0.6% decrease from October, the Department of Public Social Services said Wednesday.
The department also reported a 5.9% drop in the number of applications for aid. The department provided aid to a total of 1.8 million people in November.
The civilian unemployment rate increased slightly in November to 8%, up from 7.8% in October. The state Employment Development Department estimated the county’s civilian labor force at 4.4 million in November, with 355,000 people unemployed.
